Local small charity, West Sussex Mediation Service, finds itself with a funding gap of £5,000 as it reaches the end of its current financial year. The charity specialises in helping to resolve neighbour disputes and conflicts within families, but offers a full range of mediation services, plus conflict coaching.
As an experiment, the Queens Award winning good cause, is trying a mad dash social media experiment to try to fundraise £5k in just 36 hours and see which channel has the most pulling power, if any.
Fundraising for a small specialist charity like the mediation service is difficult at the best of times, but even more so due to the pandemic.
Nick Handley, the Service Co-ordinator for the charity said, £5,000 is a significant amount of money to a small charity like ours. We are not as sexy as other great causes but we do some fantastic work in the communities of West Sussex and we can change lives for the better. He went on to say, The pandemic has had a significant effect on charities in terms of income. We have seen demand for our skills increase as lockdown has increased pressures on families and neighbourly relations.
An easy way to donate £5 to the charity is to text Mediate to 70085. They also have a donate page on their website – https://wsms.org.uk/donate-to-wsms/
