The Modern Slavery Act affects all businesses, requiring them to keep a careful eye on their own employment practices, as well as third parties with whom they have a business relationship.

  • Does your business have to comply with the UK Modern Slavery Act?
  • Do you know what the definitions of modern slavery, forced labour, human trafficking and debt bondage mean?
  • Have your management and staff been trained on how to identify and manage the risk of modern slavery in supply chains?
  • How will your company create a robust due diligence procedure to underpin its ‘slavery and human trafficking’ statement?
Aimed at company directors and senior managers, this half day training session will cover:
  • How to identify business impact of modern slavery for your organisation and its supply chain.
  • Key legal compliance and best practice requirements of the Modern Slavery Act and supply chain.
  • How to respond to buyer requests for disclosure on modern slavery issues.
  • How to identify risk of modern slavery and how to monitor it.
  • Provide insights on how to draft and review your modern slavery statement.
  • Provide insights on the contractual elements and codes of conduct and what works.

This event is part of the University of Brighton's Green Growth Platform events programme, helping to grow the green economy across Sussex.
